Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this week has been filled with students settling into daily routines and getting to know their peers, teachers and all adult helpers in our school. We are wishing for cooperative temperatures next week to enjoy our September days outside.
At Windsor school all students have access to our MTSS, Multi-Tiered System of Supports, to assist in academic, social and emotional growth. Please review this MTSS information and reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend. Girls Varsity Soccer take the field at 11:00 am and Varsity Football kicks off at 1:00 pm.
Sincerely,
Sergio Simunovic, Colleen DeSchamp, and Kate Ryan

Elementary News
Another great school week here at Windsor K-5! A big thank to our amazing school community for making it all happen! We are settling into routines and engaging in community building and deep learning and looking forward to our first full school week coming ahead!
This week we began our daily all-school (K-5) morning meetings! These meetings are centered around important news for the day, our big picture Leader in Me goals, community building, and important logistics (menu, schedule, etc). While these morning meetings are starting with me as the facilitator, the goal this fall is to turn them over to our amazing student leaders! We look forward to updating you more about our morning meeting as the school year goes on!
LiM assemblies are coming back! Please join us this next Friday, 9/15 for the first of our by-weekly assembly series. These assemblies start run 8:15-8:45ish in our school auditorium. Please sign in with Kristin at the main entrance before making your way to the auditorium. We look forward to seeing you all there!
An important note: The school day begins at 8. We have supervision on the playground and for indoor breakfast in the Elementary cafeteria/gym starting at 7:40am. Please remind your student(s) that if they are here at school between 7:40-8:00am they will need to be in one of these two supervised spaces. School dismissal is 2:30 Many thanks in advance for the support!

Middle School News
It is great to hear and see our students encouraging each other, saying "We did it!", and high-fiving each other on their accomplishments in and out of the classroom. Middle School students made a strong start this week with some mini-assessments, writing assignments and projects that have showed off our students' strengths. We know they are going to rock this school year and we look forward to showcasing their progress and achievements.
This week our Passion Period classes took part in a Community Outreach activity where our students created encouraging posters of support for some of our school-wide weekend events. We are excited to connect with our community throughout this year to engage our students with our caring and supportive Windsor organizations.
Lastly, we appreciate your support as we work to stay consistent and vigilant on our school protocols found in the Parent/ Student Handbook and WSESU Policies found on the WSESU website.

Freshman Parents and Students
Come meet your student's teachers. We are having an ice cream social with board games with the purpose of getting to know each other. Come introduce yourself, chat, play a game, socialize and have ice cream.
We hope to see you and your family here on Wednesday September 13 from 6-7 pm in our cafeteria.
Behavior Responses
As we adjust to new procedures regarding cell phone and the implementation of our planning room, I wanted to share standard responses you can expect to some of our more common unexpected behaviors. Please see here.
Getting to Y
We are looking for students who are interested in looking at and analyzing data from our recent Youth Risk Behavior Survey. We will be sending a group of students and adults to a training in White River Junction on October 19th. Please email me if you are interested in joining this experience. Click here for more info.

News from the Nurses Office
Hello Windsor School Families,
My name is Katie Burke and I am so excited to be the new School Nurse for the Windsor School. I’ve been a registered nurse for 20 years, with previous experience in acute care, invasive cardiology, home health and school nursing. I have spent the last 7 years working as a school nurse in a neighboring community and am super excited to be working here in Windsor.
I would like to make everyone aware of a few items that may be coming home shortly.
I am in the process of reviewing immunization records. If your student is missing one or more of the required immunizations and does not have a religious exemption on file, you will be receiving a letter home along with a list of the state required immunizations. We absolutely need this information back as soon as possible.
If your student has medications at school, we will need a prescription medication permission form signed by a parent and a prescribing physician. All medications that are brought to school need to be in their original packaging with your students name on them. Please keep in mind that if your student needs medication at school for any length of time, we will need a medication permission form on file.
If your student has a chronic medical condition or a health concern and we have not spoken yet, please email me at katie.burke@wsesu.net so that we can set up a time to discuss your student’s needs.
My goal is to ensure that all students are healthy enough to learn, and are learning how to live healthy lifestyles. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance. Here’s to a great school year!
Respectfully,
Katie Burke, MSN, RN
